RecWest has been serving the West Footscray area for many years.

In August 2024, Council endorsed an updated Master Plan following community engagement and further site geotechnical investigations that will see Market Street realigned to create a cyclable plaza, accommodate a senior cricket compliant sized oval, new cricket nets, an improved playground and a second indoor court in a new RecWest Centre.

RecWest Footscray will close in September 2025, with demolition works and construction of a new RecWest Footscray facility to commence.
