Civic and Community Precinct

Council is moving into the next phase of planning for the Civic and Community Precinct with the first schematics providing an idea of how the renovated Town Hall might look.

The architects have taken on board initial community thinking for an inviting environment that can be accessed in a COVIDSafe way for a range of uses; retains the beauty and character of the exiting building along with green initiatives like solar lighting and recycled materials, and as much green space as possible.

Your feedback has been incorporated into these early concepts, which leverage four key design principles - artists impression only:

1. Community and Flow

A new flexible community foyer and forum space with direct access to community spaces providing a key link and interface between the Town Hall, new civic building and community park.

2. Heritage and Culture

Unlocking and celebrating the full potential of the Town Hall returning the building to public life and restoring the connection between the community and civic centre of the municipality.

3. Health and Resilience

For high levels of health, sustainability and flexibility in the built form.

4. Identity and Place

With an elegant, two-sided façade proposed to frame the community park welcoming the community and enhancing the Town Hall.

Any works will be subject to Heritage Victoria approval.

Note: the above illustrations shown are for illustrative purposes only. We’re still working on the design for the community park with a view to incorporating both hard and soft surfaces for active and passive activities.
