State Government's Activity Centres Program Expansion

9 May 2025

With plans for more homes in and around 60 activity centres across Melbourne – the State Government is now engaging on 25 activity centres, including West Footscray Station, Tottenham Station, and Middle Footscray Station (which includes the suburbs of Braybrook, Footscray, Kingsville, Maidstone, Seddon and West Footscray).

Activity centres are areas close to transport, jobs, services and green spaces.

By 2051, the State Government aims to have supported the creation of over 300,000 new homes in the total 60 activity centres – helping people live closer to the things that matter.

Maribyrnong City Council will soon engage on the second phase of development for our Housing Strategy. With an estimated 155,000 new Maribyrnong residents needing 71,200 dwellings by 2051, it is important we have enough housing in the right locations to create liveable and sustainable neighbourhoods.
