Why do we need a strategy?
Council will provide and advocate for services and facilities that support people's wellbeing, healthy and safe living, connection to community, cultural engagement and whole of life learning (p.16 Council Plan 2017/21).
In striving to meet the specific needs of children, young people and their families Council has replaced three previous strategies; Youth, Early Years and Family Strengthening Strategies with a single 10 year strategy. This single document will provide guidance to support decision making around program development and delivery, planning, partnerships and advocacy. This strategy will be underpinned by action plans that will be updated and reported on annually.
What happens next?
In developing the Strategy council consulted with over 1100 community members who helped shape this document. We now look for the community to provide feedback on the draft strategy from 20th May - 10th of June 2020. We will then make any necessary revisions, before the final Strategy for Children, Young People and their Families 2030 is presented to Council for adoption in July 2020.
