Council is seeking community feedback in the development of its Governance Rules, a key document in the good governance of Council and in Council considering and making decision on matters fairly and based on merits.
Why do we need Governance Rules?
Section 60 of the Local Government Act 2020 requires each council to adopt and apply governance rules that describe the way they will conduct council meetings and make decisions by 1 September 2020.
What are Governance Rules and how does it affect me?
Governance Rules provide for Council, when considering matters, to make decisions fairly and on the merits, and to institute decision-making processes to ensure that any person whose rights will be directly affected by a decision of the Council is entitled and able to communicate their views and have their interests considered.
