LGBTIQA+ Strategy and Action Plan

Maribyrnong City Council has a strong commitment towards inclusion and equality and takes pride in our diverse community, including our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer and questioning, and asexual (LGBTIQA+) people, families, and communities.

We’re keen to understand how Council can help strengthen social and economic inclusion and reduce barriers to the participation of our diverse gender community in our City through the development of the LGBTIQA+ Strategy and Action Plan.

We are inviting everyone, but particularly, LGBTIQA+ people who live, work, study or recreate in Maribyrnong, as well as their families, allies, local service providers to join the discussion.

The initial conversation, which seeks to understand how you think Council can support the LGBTIQA+ community, will stay open until Xmas Eve, 24 December 2021 at 5 pm. A second survey will open in January 2022, building on the initial feedback.

A number of online focus groups are also being held this month where participants can share perspectives, in a safe space. You will find details on how to sign up on the right-hand side of this page.

Council is also establishing an LGBTIQA+ Community Advisory Group to support the development, implementation and review of the proposed LGBTIQA+ Strategy and Action Plan. For further information, including expressing your interest to join the group please click here.
