Stage 1

Community feedback received during Stage 1 of the LATM Study identified the following as the main concerns for locals and visitors to the area:

  • Walking and cycling is a strong focus for the community with a desire for more pedestrian crossings and more/improved bicycle facilities and safety improvements for pedestrians and cyclists alike.
  • There is community support for the introduction of a 40km/h speed limit in the western end of Footscray, which is scheduled for implementation next financial year.
  • Issues relating to traffic volumes and road safety were also identified.

The draft LATM Plan is informed by community feedback and is aimed at improving safety, access and amenity, and encouraging walking and cycling. It covers a range of traffic management treatments, pedestrian improvements and bicycle facilities.
