We’re checking in with the community again for a couple of reasons.

In 2023, Council endorsed the McIvor Reserve Master Plan. Master Plans act as a guide, but they often evolve as detailed design gets underway. Timing, nearby projects and on-the-ground conditions can shift, and we need to adjust to make sure the final outcome works best for everyone. The Concept Plan for the dog park is the next step before we move toward detailed design and construction.

Since endorsement of the McIvor Reserve Master Plan, the alignment of Bradmill Boulevard has changed, which means the dog park’s footprint has also shifted. We’ve added some new features to the design as well, and we’d like your feedback on them.

With the future Bradmill development set to bring thousands of new residents to the area, the dog park will become even busier. These upgrades will help ensure it can meet the needs of the growing community and visitors.

In 2023, Council endorsed the McIvor Reserve Master Plan for future improvements to the Reserve.

The endorsed Master Plan included:

• an upgraded dog park totaling 7,500m square metres
• upgrading the dog off-lead area with new grass, drainage and irrigation, dog-agility equipment, water fountains, shade, and better access to toilets.

The Concept Plan now also has separate areas for active and quieter dogs, garden beds, shelter, and seating for both areas. The footprint has been adjusted due to surrounding works, now totalling 6,600 square metres.

Yes, the dog park's footprint has changed slightly from what was shown in the endorsed McIvor Reserve Master Plan.

Since endorsement, the alignment of Bradmill Boulevard has shifted, which has allowed the dog park to expand about 15 metres to the west.

At the same time, the car park between the dog park and the Boulevard is quite constrained, so we’ve had to reduce the footprint a little to the south to make sure parking needs can still be met.

All up, the Concept Plan now has a total footprint of 6,600 square metres.

It can’t influence works outside the dog park footprint or change the footprint itself.

Works in other areas of the Reserve will be delivered in stages, depending on funding and detailed design. Although the McIvor Reserve Master Plan is endorsed, detailed design can reveal practical considerations that require tweaks.

We’re continuing to seek funding for the indoor sports stadium, the car park design is underway. We will share further Master Plan updates in the first half of 2026.

As part of the Bradmill development, road upgrades and drainage works have taken place.

While this engagement focuses on one aspect of the Reserve, we commit to keep notifying the community when other developments occur.

Your feedback will help finalise the Concept Plan for the dog park. We will review your feedback following engagement to understand how you feel about the design and any changes that may need to be made.

We will then finalise the design and proceed to detailed design and construction in the second quarter of 2026, which may occur in stages.

The dog park will remain fenced during and after construction to keep your furry friends safe while they play.

The total budget for the dog park is $250,000.

This includes a $100,000 contribution from the State Government to create more dog-friendly spaces in our community.
