What would make you show up?

We want to know what would make more 12 to 25 year olds come to Phoenix Youth Hub, the only dedicated youth space in the City of Maribyrnong, right in the middle of Footscray CBD.

Big ideas, small ideas – it all matters. Your feedback will help us improve our spaces and services, and decide where we spend time and money over the next ten years.

Have your say before midnight Sunday 29 March 2026.

What we offer

Phoenix Youth Hub is for young people aged 12 to 25 who live, work, study, or play in the City of Maribyrnong.

FAQs

Phoenix Youth Hub is the only dedicated youth centre in the City of Maribyrnong and is the home base for Council's Youth Services at 72 Buckley St Footscray.

Phoenix is a place for all young people aged 12-25 years to go to and feel a sense of belonging.

Come to Phoenix for:

  • weekly drop in sessions
  • music programs and events
  • creative programs and exhibitions
  • rehearsal and recording space
  • work ready training workshops
  • celebrations
  • school Holiday programs.

You can also:

  • join a youth committee like Maribyrnong Youth Advisory Committee, Amplify, or Youth Parliament
  • get employment support
  • hire spaces for events, meetings, and activities.

We want to make Phoenix a place for young people now and into the future.

Phoenix should:

  • respond and be flexible to your needs
  • work with services like employment or mental health to provide support
  • provide programs that let you build friendships, develop skills, and be creative
  • be accessible, inclusive and safe.
What does this look like to you? Your feedback will help us plan and design future updates for Phoenix.

Make Phoenix what you want it to be!

Tell us: What would make you come to Phoenix?

We also want to understand:

  • What kinds of programs and services you want?
  • Feedback on spaces at Phoenix – if you’ve never been, now is the perfect time to join a free tour!

Your feedback will help change the way we cater for young people in the City. Your feedback won’t change things where there are heritage protections, safety rules in place, or spaces that have already been upgraded. But don’t let this stop you – we want to hear all ideas!

Your feedback will help us design updates and will be used to shape our planning and what we spend time and money on over the next ten years.

We did an internal review of Youth Services in 2024 to understand how we can better design and deliver programs.

We engaged young people, parents and carers, teachers, and services.

We heard a lot, including:

  • the services you would love to see use Phoenix spaces to help young people
  • that more services and people around the City/outside of Footscray would like youth services
  • that many people who would enjoy using Phoenix don't know what it is, or what it offers.
Some also asked for an after-school drop-in program. We’re excited to announce that we launched your idea in October 2025, which happens every Thursday. Find out more here.
The report confirmed that many of Phoenix's services and programs are important to you - but we also need to think about how we can reimagine parts of the space to better meet young people's needs.

Since March 2025, we’ve been hearing from young people all around the City on our newly launched Youth Hub – an extension of Phoenix.

You’ve told us plenty of ideas about the environment, career growth, housing, transport, programs, open space, city design, and celebrating culture.

The Youth Hub lets you connect and share your ideas anonymously from home.
