Phase one engagement update
From 20 November to 14 December 2025, the community was invited to share their ideas for improvements or new opportunities to help inform a review of the 2016 Quarry Park Master Plan.
Respondents across all engagement channels highlighted the need for additional recreational facilities, including BBQ areas, shaded seating, a playground with a flying fox, improved pathways, public toilets, more tree planting, and better-maintained bike tracks.
Improved lighting and CCTV were also identified as important safety measures.
The reserve's City views and the Korean War Memorial were highly valued; however, opinions on further development and the expansion of bike sports were mixed.
You can learn more by reading the Engagement Summary Report, or by reading the ideas map below.
Council will present the draft Master Plan for feedback in the second half of 2026.
2016 Master Plan Review
Reviewing the 2016 Quarry Park Master Plan
In late 2023, Council committed to do a full review of the 2016 Quarry Park Master Plan to make sure it meets the needs of our growing community.
About the 2016 Master Plan
The 2016 Master Plan set out to create a dramatic, sculpted landscape that celebrates Quarry Park’s unique setting and sweeping views of Melbourne. It supports a wide range of activities, including:
- play and exploration
- walking and cycling
- formal and informal sports and recreation
- social gatherings and community events
Since 2016, we've undertaken greening and planting, capping works to areas of the former quarry site, and added extra seating. The Korean War Memorial was also officially opened in November 2020.
Why we're reviewing the Plan
More people are using Quarry Park for sport, recreation and relaxation. We want to make sure the park continues to offer a balanced mix of opportunities for everyone in the community to enjoy.
This review was also a key action from the Maribyrnong Bike Sports Infrastructure Development Plan. We will
specifically look at integrating an extension to the Quarry Park Mountain Bike
Park.
Henry Turner North Reserve (including Merv Hughes Oval) will also form part of this review.
