Raleigh Street Park expanded following community feedback

The final design for Raleigh Street Park has been endorsed, shaped by feedback from residents and the community.

Thanks to strong community support, the park will be expanded by around 500 square metres, creating more room for relaxation, play and greenery.

The project will be funded through Council's capital works program, with support from a $250,000 Pick My Park grant.

How your feedback helped shape the final design

Based on what we heard in May 2026, we've made changes to the Concept Plan, including:

  • A larger scooter track with more room for play and planting.
  • Relocating the slide into the main play area.
  • Extending the creek-inspired path through the park and adding a new entrance from the car park.
  • Increasing lawn space and garden beds along the car park edge.
  • Adding a table tennis table, four-square court and drinking fountain.
  • Providing more informal rock seating around the lawn.
  • Removing the raised grassed area to create a more accessible and flexible space.

The final design also includes open lawn areas, sheltered seating, trees and landscaping, a half-court basketball area, and play opportunities for a range of age.

The expansion of the park will require the removal of 20 additional car parking spaces, however Council's parking data indicates the car park has relatively low occupancy.
