Updated Road Management Plan

A Road Management Plan outlines how Council manages road reserve assets within the municipality. This includes service levels, road and kerb maintenance, and a public road register.

It also outlines how Council maintains and repairs local roads, footpaths, and other related infrastructure to ensure safety and to help manage risk. This is different from broader transport planning, which sits under other transport plans.

As the current Road Management Plan 2021 is coming to the end of its four-year lifespan, Council has drafted a new Road Management Plan 2025.

The draft Road Management Plan 2025 aligns Council’s service levels with advice from the Municipal Association of Victoria, which includes:

  • extended timeframes for Council intervention, where needed
  • improved standards for determining the point of Council intervention
  • the introduction of standard service levels for night safety inspections.

These changes, and more, are outlined in the Summary of Changes document below.
