About the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan

Council plays a vital role as leader, partner, advocate and planner in protecting and promoting health, now and into the future.

Under the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008, we are required to prepare a Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan - also known as a Health and Wellbeing Plan - every four years or include public health and wellbeing matters in the Council Plan.

In recent years, Council has included health and wellbeing matters in the Council Plan.

For this coming four-year cycle we are developing a separate document - a standalone Municipal Health and Wellbeing Plan that will:

  • Consider where local government is best placed to take action, informed by the Victorian Public Health and Wellbeing Plan, and the Climate Change Act 2010
  • Deliver an updated Health and Wellbeing Data Book to include the most up to date key data on health status and determinants.

How to get involved

We're asking three questions of our community to help inform the initial draft document. To have your say, complete the short survey by midnight Sunday 15 September 2024.

We will share the initial draft document back with you for further feedback in early 2025.

Our commitment to wellbeing

Council is committed to promoting and protecting the wellbeing of our community across all life stages. We will achieve this through working to create and improve the physical, social, natural, cultural and economic environments that promote health and wellbeing.
