Stadium design open for comment

Council has progressed planning for the stadium at McIvor Reserve. We have developed designs that:

  • show how the stadium will fit within the Reserve
  • will help Council seek funding for construction from State and Federal Government.

Project background

McIvor Reserve is an important local space for sport, recreation and the community.

As our population grows, especially in the south-west, more people need places to play sport and stay active. There is a shortage of indoor courts in Melbourne’s west.

In April 2023, Council adopted the McIvor Reserve Master Plan. This plan includes an indoor sports stadium, along with other improvements across the reserve.

Important to know

The preferred design

Over the last two years, Council explored different design options. Our preferred six-court option:

  • reduces impact on open space at ground level and saves around 20 trees compared to earlier layouts
  • helps reduce noise for nearby users, like the Bowls Club
  • provides space for community use
  • improves flexibility for sports and events.

We’re sharing a set of building renders to help the community get a visual sense of what a future indoor sports stadium at McIvor Reserve could look like. These schematic designs are not final plans and do not show exactly what will be built. They are intended to give a general feel for the scale, layout and appearance of a possible stadium and to support Council’s funding advocacy. We invite you to look through the images to understand how a stadium might sit within the Reserve.
